Description: The perfect Adventure Racing for adults and juniors. No experience required. For pairs and teams. Kayaks provided for all. Just bring a bike and experience Adventure Racing in a beautiful setting. Medals for all finishers.
Race timings: Staggered starts from 10.00am. Your start time will be posted on this page a week prior to the event. The trophy giving will be at approximately 14:30.
- Female pair (+18 yrs)
- Male pair (+18 yrs)
- Mixed pair (+18 yrs)
- Family Team (2-4 participants) with at least one junior under 10yrs old and must be at least one adult over 18 yrs old.
- Family Team(2-4 participants) with at least one junior over 10yrs old and under 18yrs old and must be at least one adult over 18 yrs old.
- Team(3-8 participants)(+18 yrs)
Cost: £25 per junior & £45 per adult.
Distance & phases: 3km run, 1km kayak, 10km mountain biking & 2km foot navigation. Below are some example maps from past events. These are likely to change for future events.
Foot phase: A predominantly flat run on hard packed surfaces
Kayaking phase: The kayaking will be around 4 buoys in the lake. There will be plenty of water safety and we will be offering support and instruction if required. All kayaks and kayaking equipment is provided.
Cycling phase: The cycling is on hard and soft pack trails. There will be some more technical mountain biking and some road cycling both up and down hills. There will be a short course option available of approximately 5km. HELMETS MUST BE WORN.
Orienteering phase: Once you return from the cycle, you will be given a map which will feature five check points. All you need to do is find them!
Bike Hire: If you do not have a bike, you will need to hire or borrow a bike from a friend. The following places hire bikes in South wales. Drover Cycles, Skyline cycles, Afan Valley bike hire, PS Cycles, Black Mountain Activities. Please call them directly to make arrangements.
Parking: Please park in the visitors car park at the main entrance.
